There’s no better time to focus on yourself than now! Though being forced into a different daily routine can feel abrupt and unknown, it is a great time to practice putting new healthy habits into action. While self care is subjective to each individual, here is a day-by-day list of ideas on how to care for yourself each and every day.

Monday: Get Some Fresh Air
We may be in quarantine, but most cities are allowing outdoor exercise with social distancing practices in place. While the streets are a ghost town, take advantage of the quiet city by jetting around on bicycle and discovering a new area. Walk to a park that you usually don’t get out to. Getting outside benefits you both physically and mentally. Discover new hiking areas and start ticking off trails in your area on the app AllTrails.

Tuesday: What’s Cooking?
Get out your pots and pans because today is the day to try something new! Whether you’re cooking for one (yay leftovers!) or an entire family, testing out your skills in the kitchen is a fun and rewarding experience. We recommend visiting The Minimalist Baker’s website! With an exceptional variety of recipes to suit all different diets, you will surely find a new and nutritious meal to add into the rotation.

Wednesday: Get Soaking
Allow yourself to relax with a nice, warm bath. Soaking the body can help to reduce inflammation and tension! For an added touch, create your own DIY bath bombs!

Thursday: Yoga
Roll out your mat and get ready for a yoga session! Yoga increases flexibility, strength and blood flow, while also aiding in mental clarity with the use of breathing techniques. Check out this video that is perfect for guiding beginners through their practice!

Friday: Read A Book That Inspires You
Take a break from reality and escape into a book! Perhaps one will inspire your next adventure. Here are a few books that inspire us!
Wild by Cheryl Strayed (A solo woman’s journey on the Pacific Crest Trail)
To Shake The Sleeping Self by Jedidiah Jenkins (A young man’s bicycling adventure from Oregon to Patagonia)
A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson (A journey of discovering America by hiking the Appalachian Trail)

Saturday: Sock It To Me
Elevate your mood and heart rate with an exciting kick-boxing workout!

Sunday: Meditate
Meditation has been proven to reduce stress and increase mental clarity. With daily intentional meditation, you can essentially rewire poor thinking habits and replace them with a healthier mindset. There are endless free guided meditation options on YouTube and Spotify! We recommend the app Headspace for the gentle daily reminders and progress tracking.

Everyday: Take Action
Get your body up and moving! Upping your heart rate improves blood circulation, reduces stress and improves your overall mood. Don’t skip on it!
